PISD asking parents to complete socioeconomic form for the 2022-2023 school year
The Pearsall Independent School District will provide free breakfast and lunch to students in the Community Eligibility Provision Program (CEP) for the 2022-2023 school year, but all parents/caregivers will still need to fill out a new socioeconomic form (SIF).
It can be completed online via the PISD Parent Portal or submitted in a paper form to their campus.
Parents/caregivers must complete and return one form to each school where they have a child enrolled. The deadline is Friday, October 28, 2022.
Because all PISD-CEP students qualify for free breakfast and lunch, parents will not need to complete and return a free and reduced-price meal application. However, PISD is still required to collect and report the socioeconomic status of each student via a socioeconomic information form (SIF) that is then sent to the Texas Education Agency. This ensures campuses receive Title I, Part A and State Compensatory funding.
It is very important that families complete the form so that schools can receive Title I and State Compensatory Education funding, which directly impact campuses and students throughout the district. Title I and State Compensatory Education funding can be used to:
● Hire personnel
● Provide tutoring services
● Order technology
● Provide professional development for teachers
Socioeconomic forms are also utilized in the annual state accountability ratings, ensuring that each campus is compared to other campuses with the same percentage of economically disadvantaged students.
All families are asked to complete this form regardless of income since the completion of this form impacts the district’s programming and funding. If you do not wish to provide income information, scroll past that section of the form and select the following option:
“I choose not to provide this information. I understand that the school’s disbursement of federal funds and accountability rating may be affected by my choice.”
Completing or not completing this form will not impact free meals for any student, as that is a separate process. Additionally, all Pearsall ISD schools will provide free meals to all students throughout the 2022-23 school year, regardless of family income level.
